Seeking The Kingdom

18th Broadcast New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year 2017!!

With the New Year come New Year Resolutions. However, New Year Resolutions usually are self-centered. People focus on themselves such as in diets, working out, or trips. This year turn your resolutions around and center them on God. If you diet or are working out, seek God's Providence for your strength to practice self-control. Learning to control yourself in all realms will help you have the resolve to withstand the temptations that Satan will cast your way.

Take time in your resolutions to focus on others. Serve your community and have genuine love for the people of your town. Hebrews 13:1-3

Take time to focus on the Bible. Study more with your family, read the Bible for yourself, and seek to share the Gospel with someone else. Make your goals specific, measurable, and attainable. For example, don't just say I am going to evangelize more this year, but give yourself a target to reach such as 5 people. If we make our resolutions specific, measurable, and attainable we are more likely to achieve them. Again don’t forget to seek God’s help.

Also of note were the deaths of 2016. Celebrity deaths were quite troubling. There were Alan Rickman, David Bowie, and Carrie Fisher just to name a few. Death is tragic, but a reality. People noticed death in 2016 which can be a good thing. The Bible teaches us that it is better to go to the house of morning than to the house of feasting (Ecclesiastes 7:1-4) because the living takes it to heart. When the living takes it to heart, they will do something about their own lives and prepare for their death. We take life for granted, but it can end suddenly. As a Christian, we have a hope that death is only temporary and we will rise to eternal life with God. Be faithful, love God and live.

Matthew 7:21-27

Luke 12:13-21
